I am pleased to inform you that a new Research Center on Tibet has been established by Barcelona University (Catalonia, Spain) Dr. Josep Alay Director

Observatory of Tibet and Central Asia (OTAC) Barcelona University, Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain)

The Observatory of Tibet and Central Asia is a new Research Center recentlyestablished by Barcelona University to study the Civilizations of Tibet, Mongolia and Turkic Republics in Central Asia through research and teaching. We have focused on two main research lines: Nomad traditions, Tibetan Literature (adding some of the Sixth Dalai lama poems in Tibetan in this web site), Catalan-Tibetan Dictionary and the biography and works of the 15th c. Catalan traveler, Antoni de Montserrat (author of the first map of the Himalayas).

The OTAC website, in Catalan and English, lists unannotated links toresources on: Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bhutan, Burma, Buryatia, China,Eastern Turkestan, India [planned page], Inner Mongolia, Kalmykia, Kashmir, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nep planned page], Pakistan, Russia, [planned page], Tajikistan, Tibet, Turkmenistan, Tuva, Uzbekistan, Yellow Uighurs.
